Terms and conditions for retaking free of charge courses abandoned during the 2020 winter session

Context reminder – Winter 2020

As part of government measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19, UQAT has announced that it will extend the withdrawal period without reimbursement and without mention of a failing grade until April 24, 2020.

All fees related to the courses taken during the 2020 winter session must be paid, whether the courses are completed or abandoned in the targeted period.

Failure to pay the fees does not constitute a withdrawal from a course, refer to the withdrawal procedure at: www.uqat.ca/telechargements/admission/procedure_abandon.pdf (French version).

Ability to retake abandoned courses at no cost

In this context, UQAT exceptionally offers students who have dropped one or more courses between March 9 and April 24, 2020, the possibility of retaking these courses or their equivalents (in the case of optional courses or elective courses) FREE OF CHARGE, and this, until the 2021 winter session inclusively.

Characteristics of a course targeted for a free retake :

  • Course taken during the 2020 winter session;
  • Whose fees have been paid;
  • Abandoned between March 9 and April 24, 2020;
  • The course is retaken during the summer 2020, fall 2020 or winter 2021 session.

Resumption procedure free of charge at a later session

  1. In the case of resuming a compulsory course, register yourself, as usual.
  2. In the case of resuming an equivalent course (optional or of your choice) which would be different from the abandoned course, first check with your module or program that the chosen course is acceptable. Then register yourself, as usual.
  3. Once your registration is completed, fill in the exemption request form and send it back to the link indicated.

Upon registration, tuition fees will be generated by the system and charged to your account. In order to be exempted from these fees, we invite you to fill in the exemption request form available at: www.uqat.ca/telechargements/covid-19/Form-course-retake.pdf;

Once completed, this form should be sent by email to the following address: ress.financieres@uqat.ca;

After validation and once the date of abandonment with reimbursement provided in the university calendar has passed, the fees in your file will be adjusted, and you will then be able to make the payment of the remaining balance if necessary.

This procedure must be followed at each of the sessions where courses are retaken. A separate form must be completed each session (summer 2020, fall 2020 and winter 2021) where one or more courses that have been dropped are retaken.
