If you are not a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident and you wish to pursue studies in Quebec, you must have a Certificat d’acceptation du Québec [Québec Certificate of Acceptance], also known as a CAQ, in your possession.
Renewing a CAQ
It is strongly recommended that you start the CAQ renewal procedures at least three months prior to its expiration date. A valid CAQ is required for your file while you study. You may be expelled from the institution if a document is missing.
You must provide a copy of your CAQ to the Office of the Registrar each time that it is renewed.
Information related to the renewal of the CAQ as well as the required application forms are available at the following link:
Staff in the International Students Office on the Rouyn-Noranda campus is qualified to support you at every step of the process.
At all times during your studies in Canada, you must hold a valid study permit. If you plan to work off-campus, the study permit is also required.
For citizens of certain countries who wish to enter Canada, a temporary resident visa may be required.
You may renew the temporary resident visa by contacting the Canadian Embassy or a Canadian consulate in your country.
You can renew your visa by mail, from Canada, by sending your application to a Canadian consulate in the United States (Buffalo).
To travel to the United States while you are a student in Quebec, ask about the documents necessary for your entry. You can obtain this information by calling the United States Consulate General. This information is also available at the following websites.
